Journal standards

  • Double-anonymous peer review. Every submission is assessed by independent reviewers with relevant subject expertise. Author and reviewer identities are withheld from each other throughout the process.
  • Free to publish, free to read. OATCJ is a diamond open-access journal: no article processing charges for authors, no access fees for readers. Cases are released under Creative Commons licences (CC BY-NC-ND or CC BY-ND).
  • Factual cases only. Cases describe real organisations and real people, grounded in primary and/or secondary research. Identities may be disguised with documented consent. Fictional cases are not accepted.
  • Teaching notes for verified instructors. Every published case is accompanied by a teaching note, distributed to verified instructors through The Case Centre.
  • Published ethics policies. OATCJ follows written policies, aligned with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), on authorship, misconduct, conflict of interest, complaint handling, editorial independence, and generative-AI use.
  • Distributed globally. Every case is hosted and indexed by The Case Centre, alongside cases from AACSB- and EQUIS-accredited business schools.

Strategic vision

OATCJ is aligned with the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME). The journal supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals by offering a multi-disciplinary, openly licensed repository of real-world teaching cases for students and instructors, free of charge to read and to publish. The journal provides a developmental peer-review process for case authors without financial barriers, and is supported by a reviewer community drawn from a broad range of scholarly disciplines.
