Abstract

The case revolves around an organization Summer Wind Ltd. (disguised) that operated in the Asia Pacific region and provided renewable energy products as services. The case provides a basis to analyze how the organization addresses sustainable leadership through its core business offerings, its human resources engagement and development strategy and its corporate social responsibility initiatives. Initially involved in partnerships to support solar farms in developing economies in Vietnam, Thailand and other parts of Southeast Asia, Summer Wind Ltd. (SWL) established itself as a progressive organization focused on environmental stewardship across Asia Pacific, and aimed to provide practical and affordable renewable energy solutions and even education in sustainability best practices and practical application, and to lead the transformation efforts of sustainability in the region. One of its articulated corporate values was “Empowering People” and they applied this approach to employees, partners and the communities which they operated in.
